Grinalds and Whiteside Break Multiple Records At Junior Nationals
Congratulations to Sarah Grinalds and John Whiteside for their fantastic swims at Junior Nationals. Sarah placed 6th in the 50M Free in a time of 26.29, breaking her own team record. Sarah also broke her 100M Free record in a time of 57.13 and her 200M Free record in a time of 2:03.91. And, in her 400M time trial, she broke Emily Claire Fenn’s 17 year old record in a time of 4:20.56.
John placed 6th in two events as well. He was 6th in the 50M Free in a time of 23.36 and the 100M Back, breaking his own record in a time of 57.01. John is the current Connecticut Record holder in the 100M Back with his swim at the 2016 CT LC Senior Championships in a time of 58.64. John also had team record breaking swims in the 100M Free and 200M Back. John got a 50.58 in the 100M Free, which is now the CT Resident Record. Finally, John swam a 2:05.60 in the 200M back, breaking his own 200M Back record and Eric Soria’s 16 year old Senior boys’ record.
John and Sarah were not the only ones swimming fast this August. Daniel Williams placed 6th in the 800M Free with a time of 8:30.70 at the 2016 Futures Championships in College Park. Daniel placed 7th in the 1500M Free at Futures as well in a time of 16:11.25. And, at the EZ Long Course Age Group Championships, Jude Dequeljoe placed 7th in the 50M Free in a time of 31.18. Jude has the 9/10 boys team record in this event.
