Minutes for the Board Meeting of May 7, 2015

Attendees
Allison Adler (co-Treasurer), Craig Adler (Senior Rep), Mike Alpert (Escrow Manager), Martha Corneck (AG Rep), Brian Crombie (co-Treasurer), , Adrienne Johnston (Meet Manager), Ellen Johnston (Head Coach), Andy Mc Nab (Co-Pres.), Gabby Miller (AG Rep), Sylvia Ortega (Co-Pres.), and Ron Wimer (ex-Officio). Additional Attendees: Jay Jaronko.

Approval of Minutes
Ron Wimer made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 9th meeting. Martha Corneck seconded the motion. All voted unanimously and carried it was.

RESOLVED, that the minutes of the meeting dated April 9, 2015 as presented to the Committee were approved.

PET-WRAT Report
It was noted there was no further updates to report. Families will continue to earn their volunteer points through the end of July.

USA Swimming Manager’s Report
Mike Alpert noted that Team Unify was working as expected and a few families have a low balance. He will send an email to these families to ensure they add to the account if their child(ren) intend to swim in the Long Course season.

Parent Representative’s Report
The Senior Rep, Craig Adler, reported that the Senior team had a pizza party and movie night for a YNATs fundraiser and both events were fun and well attended. He discussed the research he did in organizing a Swim for Nepal event with his son Scott and Staples captains Aileen Coyne and Mark Schacter.

Ron Wimer made a motion to approve the Swim for Nepal event to occur May 27, 2015 with the Parents’ Club assisting with refreshments and nominal expenses. Martha Corneck seconded the motion. All voted unanimously and carried it was.
RESOLVED, the Swim for Nepal event to occur May 27, 2015 with the Parents’ Club assisting with refreshments and nominal expense were approved.

Ron Wimer made a motion to approve the Parent Club making a donation to Swim for Nepal event, an amount to be determined by the WRAT co-Treasurers from the savings of the Parents Club. Martha Corneck seconded the motion. All voted unanimously and carried it was.
RESOLVED, approve the Parent Club making a donation to Swim for Nepal event, an amount to be determined by the WRAT co-Treasurers.

The Age Group reps stated they had a meeting with Coach Chandler Crosby and Coach Kristin Finnegan to create a calendar of social and civic events for the long course schedule to include the Castles in the Sand event this Saturday, Memorial Day parade, beach practices, Point to Point and a cookout swim on the Mahackeno campus.

Meet Coordinator Report
Adrienne Johnston in coordination with Coach Ellen Johnston discussed the volunteers for the Senior Spring Invitational. There are a few potential volunteers for this request should be covered easily. Ellen is sending an update to all Senior Swimmers and parents and will let the visiting teams know.

Coaches’ Report
Coach Ellen Johnston discussed the plans for the Long Course schedule and the intent to have a tryout in July for new swimmers and a clinic in August so that they can prepare for the Fall tryout in September. Ellen is preparing the Y Daxxco system and Team Unify to register current swimmers.

Treasurer’s Report
Brian Crombie stated that overall the Club is in good financial shape. There were not any material expenses to report. Mr. Crombie stated that he is currently finalizing a few events such as Recognition Dinner and YNATs trip.

Co-Presidents’ Report
Ron Wimer and Sylvia Ortega discussed a celebration for Ellen Johnston for Winning the Coach of the Year award during the 2015 YMCA Short Course National Championship meet in Greensboro, NC . Ron Wimer stated that the there will be a lunch in her honor with the plans to be discussed further this month.

Mrs. Ortega discussed the Recognition Night that occurred on April 24, 2015 and the need for a summary of the event for future planners.

Mrs. Corneck stated that a draft is currently being circulated to everyone on the Committee and will be retained for future use.

Mrs. Ortega also stated the need for write-ups of volunteer positions for all Board members and all agreed that the process would begin.

Martha Corneck moved to adjourn meeting; Ron Wimer seconded; and all voted in favor. The next meeting is slated for June 4, 2015.
