Water Rats Win 2022 CT Long Course Age Group Championships
the Water Rat Swim Team. Yes, for the third consecutive season, the Water Rats came in 1st Place in the Combined Boys and Girls team scoring at the CT Long Course Age Group Championships held at the University of Connecticut on July 21st through July 24th. It was a collective team effort to achieve the 23-point advantage over the Ridgefield Aquatic Club, which was accomplished on the last night of finals. In addition to placing 1st in the Overall Combined Team Score at the 2022 Long Course Age Group Championships, our swimmers had 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place team scores in several individual age groups. The list of those team scores is provided below:
- 10/Under Boys – 1st
- 10/Under Girls – 2nd
- 10/Under Combined Boys and Girls – 1st
- 13/14 Girls – 2nd
- 10-14- Year Old Girls – 1st
The team had several individual high point scorers as well, including the following who placed 1st through 3rd:
- Valentina Belyaev – 3rd Place Individual High Point Scorer 10/Under Girls
- Emma Giafardino – 2nd Place Individual High Point Scorer 11/12 Girls
- Audrey Gil – 1st Place Individual High Point Scorer 13/14 Girls
- Ella Gussen – 2nd Place Individual High Point Scorer 13/14 Girls
- Dani Schwartz – 2nd Place Individual Distance High Point Scorer
Because of the team’s fast swimming at the AG Championships and other long course meets, we have one of the largest group of swimmers, 17 in all, qualify for the 2022 Long Course Eastern Zone Age Group Championships in Ithaca, NY, August 3-6, 2022. They are:
