Sarah Grinalds Sets 50-Free Record at FCIAC Finals
Congratulations to Water Rat Sarah Grinalds, who recently became one of the top ranked swimmers in the nation for girls 18 and under in the 50 yard freestyle.
Grinalds, a sophomore at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, posted a record time of 22.97 in the 50 free in the FCIAC high school swimming championships, held Nov. 5 at Greenwich High School.
“I really owe it to my coaches for how well I did in this meet,” Grinalds said to Connecticut Post reporter David Fierro. “I have been training hard for this meet and I’m very surprised with my times.”
Grinalds also won the FCIAC title in the 500 Freestyle in 4:58.15. “I just wanted to break five minutes in the 500,” she was quoted as saying. “I feel very excited about what is going to happen the rest of the season.”
Grinalds will be swimming in multiple events at the Water Rats’ first full-field home meet of the 2015-16 season, the Maura Marden Freestyle Frenzy, taking place at the Westport Weston Family YMCA on Nov. 7-8.
