Change in Leadership at Family Y
Bonnie Strittmatter, President of the Westport Weston Family Y’s volunteer Board of Directors, announced on Tuesday, Oct. 21 that Philip Dwyer, retired CEO of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, has been appointed Interim CEO of the Westport Weston Family Y.
A resident of Fairfield, Phil served the YMCA movement for over 40 years. He will begin his employment on Monday, Oct. 27, and very much looks forward to working with the staff and volunteers as our Y transitions its leadership.
Rob Reeves has resigned his position as CEO.
“We wish Rob the best and thank him for his leadership of our capital campaign and building project,” said Strittmatter. “The Y’s Board of Directors will be working with Rob on the future plans for our Family Y through the end of the year, including a smooth transition for Phil.”
The Board will also be working with YMCA of the USA on the CEO search process and additional resources for support.
Phil served the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA for 20 years. Prior to that, he was Executive Director for the West Side YMCA branch for the New York City YMCA. He began his Y career with the Bethlehem, Pa., YMCA, starting as Community Program Director and rising through the ranks to become the Executive Director of this independent YMCA. He received his B.S. degree from Springfield College and a Master’s degree from Lehigh University.
Phil remains active in Fairfield and currently is an elected member of the Fairfield Board of Education. He is married and has two grown children, one living in New York City and a second in the Rochester, N.Y., region.
Thank you for welcoming Phil Dwyer to our Family Y. We look forward to a bright future in our modern new facility and in 2015.
