Water Rats Excel at the Fairfield YMCA Open Water One Mile Swim

Congratulations to the Water Rats for great swims last Saturday at The Fairfield YMCA One Mile Open Water Swim. The team placed first among all the other teams who participated in the race. In addition, five Westport Water Rats swam out front. Delaney Walsh and Jack Gray placed 7th and 5th overall, respectively. Both were first in their age groups and Walsh was the first female finisher in a pack of 182 swimmers. Caroline Begg won the 12/under age group. Meg Enquist won the 200 meter open water swim for the younger swimmers, and, Jeff Sargent, a Water Rat parent and masters swimmer, was first in his age group and 18th overall.
